Terms of service

These terms apply to every visit to taraedition.com and to every order placed with Tara Edition. Please read them before you order. By placing an order you accept them.

1. Who we are

Tara Edition is a design house in Enschede, the Netherlands, run as a sole proprietorship (eenmanszaak). Address: Ariënsplein 1, 7511 JX Enschede. Chamber of Commerce (KvK) 98982214. VAT number NL005364856B59. Email: house@taraedition.com.

2. Our pieces

Each design is made once, in a numbered edition, and never repeated. We describe and photograph every piece as accurately as we can. Silk, print and colour can look slightly different on screen than in daylight, and small variations are part of hand finishing; they are not faults.

Edition numbers are allocated by us. Where you can choose a number, we hold it for you once your order or reservation is confirmed.

3. Prices

Prices are in euros and include BTW (Dutch VAT). Delivery costs are shown separately at checkout before you pay. The price that applies is the one shown when you place your order. Our prices do not change during an edition.

4. Ordering and the contract

When you place an order you make an offer to buy. The contract is formed when we confirm your order by email. We may decline an order, for example when a piece is no longer available or a payment cannot be verified; if we do, we refund anything you have paid in full.

Our pieces are sold for personal use, not for resale.

5. Reservations

For some designs you may reserve an edition number before release with a €50 deposit. The deposit is deducted from the price of the piece. When the piece is released we send you an invoice for the balance, and your piece is sent once it is paid. The deposit is fully refundable until the balance is paid; write to us to cancel. If the balance is not paid within 14 days of the invoice, we may release the number and refund the deposit.

6. Payment

You pay at checkout with one of the methods shown there. Payments are processed securely by our payment providers; we never see or store your full card details.

7. Delivery

We deliver to the Netherlands and the rest of the European Union. Costs, times and how pieces travel are set out in our shipping policy. The piece is our responsibility until it reaches you.

8. Withdrawal and returns

You may withdraw from your purchase within 14 days of receiving it, without giving a reason. How this works, including the model withdrawal form, is set out in our returns policy.

9. Guarantee

Every piece is covered by the legal guarantee of conformity under Dutch and European law: it must be as described and fit for normal use. If it is not, we repair, replace or refund it. Please follow the care instructions supplied with the piece; damage caused by wear, washing against the instructions or accidents is not covered.

10. Liability

Our liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it, except where the law does not allow this limit, such as in cases of intent or gross negligence. Nothing in these terms limits your rights as a consumer under mandatory law.

11. Intellectual property

All designs, prints, photographs, texts and the Tara Edition name and marks belong to Tara Edition. You may not copy, reproduce or use them commercially without our written permission.

12. Privacy

How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy policy.

13. Questions and complaints

Write to house@taraedition.com. We reply within one working day and aim to resolve any complaint within 14 days.

14. Applicable law

These terms and every order are governed by Dutch law. If you live elsewhere in the European Union, you keep the protection of the mandatory consumer law of your country. Disputes are brought before the competent court in the Netherlands, unless the law gives you the right to go to the court where you live.

15. Changes

We may update these terms. The version published on this page when you place your order applies to that order.
